Hello everybody well first of i dont know if this is int he right forum. but lets try. we are now migrating to windows 7. but we have discovered an error with out Mapped Drives. the exact problem is: The Drives are connected and visible. you even can brows through them. BUT, when you want to run a .exe File as Administrator, you get an error with "The System cannot find the Drive Specified". ------------------- so how comes that? i couldnt found anything about such kind of problem. we have mapped drives per policy. these drives are on a fileserver. so when i oppen the explorer, browse through the drive to a .exe file. now i rightklick it, runas different user (with my admin account, because normal user accounts dont have localadmin rights). then the error message apears. but the drive and the file is still there and visible. --------------------- firewall is disabled.[ Im swiss. ive allready seen this article. but this isnt an acceptable solution. we cant tell our supporters to write the whole UNC path with runas. there should be a more practical solution for this?[ Im swiss. I'm sorry for my bad english writing ]

There are only 3 solutions for this problem in Windows 7: - 1 the one described in the above cited KB article - 2 you give the logged on user the necessary privileges to run this program under his user account - that is IMO the preferred solution - 3 you use another account to run that program e.g. a domain admin or local admin account and disable UAC and logon as that user before running that program Of course you can use the explorer to browse via UNC path and not via mapped drive - then you need not enter the UNC path if you want to run the executable, as it is already known to the explorer interface, and you will be prompted for credentials to connect to the network resource.
